Description

The situational rule for the 2330B Claim Check or Remittance Date states "Required when the payer identified in this loop has previously adjudicated the claim and Loop ID-2430, Line Check or Remittance Date, is not used. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send." My question is what is the correct usage of this segment is when multiple service lines exist but only some contain the 2430 loop. I have seen different trading partners apply different interpretations to this. Some will reject if the 2330B DTP exists when any service line has a 2430 loop, and others will reject if any service lien does not contain the 2430 and the 2330B DTP does not exist.

Response

The 2330B DTP – Claim Check or Remittance Date is “Required when the payer identified in this loop has previously adjudicated the claim and Loop ID-2430, Line Check or Remittance Date, is not used. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send.” Therefore, if any service line contains the 2430 Loop, the 2330B DTP – Claim Check or Remittance Date must not be used.
