Formal vs. Informal Help Informal Formal

If BPR04 indicates "CHK", is it non-compliant to send data in BPR09?

This issue is explicitly addressed in guide 004010X091. The note on BPR09 states "This element is required when BPR04 is ACH, BOP or FWT." Since there is no statement that the account number cannot be sent when BPR04 is "CHK", inclusion under that circumstance is not prohibited.

The next guide (4050 and 5010) prohibits sending BPR09 when BPR04 is "CHK", we recommend not using BPR09 under version 4010. The note now reads: "Required when BPR04 is ACH, BPO or FWT. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send."
