Back  RFI # 627: Ambulance number of Patients

Formal vs. Informal Help Informal Formal

Submitter

Carter Mark

Description

In the State of Minnesota it is required to identify multiple patient riders in an ambulance/special transportation situation. There does not appear to be a way to do this in the X098A1 Guide. Minnesota requests permission to use the K3 segment in the 2300 Loop to identify the number of patient riders in an ambulance transportation.

Response

ONLY applicable for version 4010. This solution does not apply to version 5010 (5010 solution - 2400 loop QTY Ambulance Patient Count. QTY01 = Quantity Qualifier is PT, QTY02 = patient count.).

The Workgroup approves the use of the K3 segment for Number of Patients in
an Ambulance in this format: K3*PATIENTS=3~. If the K3 segment is used for
this purpose, the = sign must not be used as a delimiter.
